Professional Learning Communities
A Professional Learning Community (PLC) is defined as a method to foster collaborative learning among colleagues within a particular work environment or field, e.g., practice-based professional learning for teachers. Sessions typically focus on a particular topic chosen by the group. The group process includes developing trust in one another, learning together, discussing the results of practicing that learning, and joining in collective intelligence around the topic so that all benefit from the group knowledge.
Dynamic Coaching Systems (DCS) offers Professional Learning Communities focused on developing improved communication and coaching skills, enhanced through practice between sessions. These PLCs are intended for Administrative and/or coaching staff of 10-15 members from various early education programs, gathering via six, 1-1.5 hour-long Zoom virtual sessions over a period of four months scheduled as mutually designed by program and/or group with coach/facilitator. All PLCs are facilitated by DCS certified coaches with learning aligned with the International Coaching Federation’s Core Competencies.
Specific goals for learning are determined by the group. Sample goals may include the following:
- Hone communication/coaching skills enabling more success in supporting and motivating all staff, which, when implemented over time, results in increased commitment and retention of staff.
- Learn how best to support self so to be a model of self-care practices and available to offer others needed support.
- Develop relationships with peers and an expanded network of support.
